Office of Public Guardian

The 2007 Legislature passed Senate Bill 5320, establishing an Office of Public Guardianship within the Administrative Office of the Courts. The office is intended to “promote the availability of guardianship services for individuals who need them and for whom adequate services my otherwise be unavailable.” The Office of Public Guardianship will contract with individuals and organizations to provide guardianship services where there is no one else qualified, willing and able to serve. To be eligible for a public guardian, individuals must have incomes under 200 percent of the federal poverty level or be receiving long-term care services through DSHS.

There is no formal relationship between WAPG and the Office for Public Guardianship.
