3. Treasurer’s Report Bill Jaback: Over $5,000 was transferred from the previous WAPG accounts and we have over $7,000 in our account after the application fees through 1-31-08 were posted

4. CPG Board report by Ken Curry and Glenda Voller: go to wapg.com for report

5. UW Advisory Group: Mimi Hudson, Vice President and Tom O’Brien were attending the UW Advisory Group meeting occurring at the same time of this meeting.

6. GR 23 – no committee members present

7. Medicaid Data Collection: Ken Curry reported still looking for participants

8. Spring Seminar: Bill Jaback reported on their meeting

The committee discussed a program for intermediate and advanced Guardians occurring on the same day to occur in May (after the tax deadline) in the Seatac area to be close to the airport and somewhat central to the WAPG membership. The committee wants to find a way to have the same classes offered in Eastern Washington. The committee thoughts included asking those in Eastern Washington to find presenters to present the same program or record the program in Seatac and have it presented in Eastern Washington. The issues became monitoring the other sites and how much to charge and format of information (DVD, printed manual, etc.). It was noted that two of those who had expressed interest in helping with the Spring Seminar were in Spokane.

Cost of presenting training. It depends on cost of the facility where training is held. Bill Jaback, Treasurer noted that he would be satisfied with WAPG covering the costs of the event. There was additional discussion of charging extra for non members above the application fee or dues to encourage membership.

Discussion occurred on Puget Sound CPGs opening their homes so CPGs traveling from a distance wouldn’t have to pay for lodging and meals. The Committee will consider this.

9. Opinion expressed regarding Administration Office of the Courts (AOC) website; how easy it is for anyone to access CPG personal information. Agreed same by other’s present at meeting.

10. Membership: Glenda Voller has all CPGs emails obtained from the AOC in December 2007. Discussion of sending Ken Curry’s introduction letter and membership application to all CPGs via internet; possibly send emails to all CPGs giving a link to WAPG website to read minutes of WAPG meetings.

11. Legislation: Ken Curry reported that the CPG Board suggested WAPG should look at a couple of bills in the State Legislature. One bill related to the protocol judges/commissioners use when selecting a guardian to be appointed. It didn’t sound favorable for the guardianship profession in general. Sylvia Curry and Glenda Voller agreed to research bills related to Guardianships that are in the Legislature and let members know.

12. OPG observation. RFP deadline response was today.

13. For the Good of the order:

President at CPG Board: Ken Curry reported that he was invited to be on the agenda of the CPG Board today to present information on WAPG. He was well received and the CPG Board expressed their appreciation to all those involved in getting WAPG going again and the great need the CPG Board feels for securing input from CPGs across the State.

Newsletter: Steve Posalski and Bill Jaback expressed interest in doing a WAPG newsletter.

UW Training: Are current CPGs "grandfathered in" to the program? Thus no need to take the UW training. Answer: "don’t know". Comment that current CPGs will be invited to be instructors.

Press Releases: Ken Curry reported that one member has expressed a willingness to do press releases to respond to issues in the press. Examples of past possible releases included the lady who had 2 million dollars and now nothing because it was stolen and another about a man who purchased a car from a dealership and the salesman stole it back. Neither of these had Guardians and a guardian would have circumvented problems for these individuals.

Research: Ken Curry also indicated another member is willing to do research on variety of issues.

Regarding WAPG list serve; should it be available to members only? Suggested a deadline of 3/31/2008 when the list serve would go to "members only". Discussion also occurred on having a dedicated section of the WAPG web site for members only. Bill Jaback indicated he was having his agency web site redone and would see what it would cost to do that section in the WAPG web site.

Meeting dates and locations? Glenda Voller Secretary stated that Valley View Library meeting room is reserved for March 10th and April 14th. Christopher Fast offered a meeting room in his office building if Valley View Library didn’t work for future meetings.

Ken Curry is speaking at the BridgeBuilders training in March 2008. The topic is WAPG and what we are doing.

Disaster Planning. Ken Fernandes discussed his involvement in the Pierce County Disaster Planning. He asked how guardians help clients in times of disaster? What happens if the staff at facilities can’t get to work? How can CPGs broaden outlook on earthquake? Pandemic flu? Natural disaster? Bill Jaback thought education committee can take this up in roundtable form.

14. Next Meeting. It was agreed to meet again at Valley View Library, March 10, 2008 at 1:00 pm. Address: 17850 Military Road South, SeaTac, Washington 98188

15. Adjournment: the meeting adjourned at 2:50 pm.

Respectfully Submitted
Glenda Voller, CPG
Interim Secretary WAPG
