Guardian Certificate Program

Regarding nomenclature: State law requires professional guardians to be certified and puts the Supreme Court in charge of the process. The Professional Guardian Certification Board has been delegated by the Court to implement certification requirements.  The University of Washington Extension offers training in various professional fields and upon completion a certificate of completion, and these are called Certificate Programs. The similarity in words is coincidental.

The Professional Guardian Certificate Program is slated for a launch in September, 2008.

Guardian Advisory Group This is a committee organized by UW Certificate program to direct the creation of the curriculum.

Guardian Discussion Group A discussion group for individuals who are interested in contributing, discussing, and/or debating curriculum development and revision for the Guardianship Certificate Program at the University of Washington.

Initial Curriculum Design  This is a summary prepared by staff of CPGB of the initial training content. This is the starting point for development of the UW certificate program. Beginning February, 2008 and with a target completion of April, 2008 members of the Guardian Advisory Group have broken into teams to flesh out this design with suggestions for the proposed  90 hour program.
